Your adventure starts with a motor coach ride way out of town. Enjoy a speedy and exhilarating 15 minute inflatable boat ride to the Tatoosh Islands.
Upon arrival at the beach your guides will prepare you for your Ketchikan wilderness paddling experience with an informative kayak class and safety talk before assisting you into your double sea kayak. You will gain confidence in your kayak as you paddle up the shoreline toward the Tatoosh Islands. Following your guides away from the beach you'll explore passages in and around this unique and serene island environment. Feel free to stop and take pictures, tune into the guide narrative of the natural and cultural history of the Tongass National Forest, or sit quietly and appreciate the tranquil rainforest setting. Keep an eye out for sea birds, bald eagles, seals, and other marine life. Whales and bears are sometimes spotted in this area too. "You must go sign up for a kayaking tour with Benji around the Tatoosh Islands. We headed out on the sunny day never expecting to see whales but oh how we were surprised. Our guide Benji mentioned the whales had moved out of this area and not likely to see any whales this day in early September. We started to head towards the first island to get a closer look at a pair of bald eagles when we quickly realized were in the presence (3-miles across the open water) magnificent humpback whales. It was a family of whales teaching their young to "bubble-net" feed and it was the most beautiful and fascinating to watch it for more than an hour. Our guide was very informative, teaching the group exactly how the whales bubble-net feed, which is fascinating. Benji always had our safety top of mind as the whales made their way across the open waters, heading directly for our area. We were able to watch the whales for more than an hour. We thought Benji was our lucky charm for sure since we also were able to get up close to a few seals (what I refer to as sea puppies) swimming around a little rock island. It was the most magical thing I think I will ever experience."

"Family run business, owners son Jared was our tour guide. Simply an experience of a life time, we took a small boat to the island where we got into our kayaks. Once in we kayaked around the island, we saw deer, harbor seals, sea stars, eagles. Thanks for making this an amazing adventure."

"This kayaking excursion was excellent! A beautiful peaceful paddle past mountains, beaches, and volcanic and glacially formed rocks. We spotted bald eagles, seals, jellyfish, and a humpback whale. I'm an experienced paddler but even the beginning level kayakers in our group had an easy time. Betsy, Jared, Captain Brooke, and our guides Lily, Nick, and Rusty were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They even took photos of us on the water and shared them with us at the end. Plus the cookies and hot chocolate hit the spot after the paddle Highly recommended!"
